North Haven’s First Adult Spelling Bee A Hit In The Hive

It was a night to remember!

Can you spell successful? That’s the best word to describe the first annual Adult Spelling Bee, which was presented by the North Haven Education Foundation on April 30, 2015, and held at North Haven High School. With hundreds of people cheering on their favorite team(s) in the field of 35 swarms, the three winning word warriors were members of the North Haven Land Trust who called themselves the “Nort Hven Lan Rust”. Heidi Boettger, John Tibor and Mark Cofrancesco were judged by the community’s Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Robert Cronin and the Board of Education Assistant Chairman, Dr. Wesley O’Brien as the best in the hive.

Co-Emcees Dr. Russell Dallai, High School Principal, and Atty. Bernard Pellegrino, Chairman of the NHEF, entertained the audience with their jokes while keeping the program under 2 hours. The event chairperson, Kathy Rocklin, announced that the profits that are specifically devoted to supporting supplementary programs for the children of the school district were nearly $7600.
