How long does it take to obtain the necessary land use/zoning permits and approvals?

It really depends on the type of project. A residential home can be only a few weeks. A large commercial retail or office development can take six months or longer.

Do neighbors have a say on how certain projects can be developed?

In many cases, the answer is yes, neighbors play a role in the application and approval process. In most cases, neighbors within a specified vicinity of the project are entitled to notice of the filing of a development application and are permitted to participate in the public hearing at which the application is presented to the Town Board that issues the zoning approvals.
